Toonces, The Driving Cat

I was working on a photo assignment at an old abandoned house in Young Harris, North Georgia. I found this long-lost toy behind the house and the tire not far away. I was suddenly struck by the compulsion to use the beautiful flat light behind the building to create some dry humor. Toonces, The Driving Cat immediately jumped into my twisted mind. Back in the 1970s, I always enjoyed waiting to see what Toonces and Steve Martin would do each week on Saturday Night Live.

I gathered the tire and truck and placed them against the building to create a composition to contain the story. It was good but still lacked something. I added the wind-blown leaf to the truck to further animate the scene and express the absurdity of Toonces, yet again, driving off the cliff to his demise.
